Jumanji Game

Jumangi GameThe Jumanji game is based on a 1981 children’s fantasy book of the same name written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg. The book was then made into a major motion picture starring Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, David Alan Grier, Bonnie Hunt and Adam Hann-Byrd. Soon to follow was a television series that ran from 1996 to 1999.

The plot of the story essentially involves two siblings who become bored when their parents are out and they come across the Jumanji game and start to play. In the book and motion picture versions of Jumanji, the board game actually comes to life. Although that isn’t the case with the actual board game you can now purchase, it’s still an exciting game that is entirely based on the story of Jumanji.

Playing the Jumanji Game

During play of the Jumanji game, all players are being pursued by rhinos, lions and a bunch of other animals as you make your way through the jungle.

Jumanji is similar to other board games in that you roll a die to advance a certain number of spaces on the game board. Two to four players are all it takes to play this game. Each player chooses a pawn to use to move along the gigantic game board that boasts a size of 36.5 by 18.5 inches. Players will need to decode rhyming card messages that could spell disaster and roll eight-sided dice to help rescue a fellow player in danger.

The only way out of this jungle is to finish the game. If at any point you become trapped during the game you have to rely on the other players to help you escape. The only winner is the player who finishes the game first and gets out of the jungle. In order to do this a player’s game piece must get to the center of the game board on an exact roll before the grid has been filled. When the grid is filled and a player has reached the center, the game is considered won and a new game can be started.
